New Releases 16-4-18: Dominaria and Deepkin!

Ash Gavin

Welcome back, players! Spring is in the air; the sun is shining, the shop is booming and it feels like a new Magic: The Gathering set is right around the corner.

Look, here's one now.

Our Dominaria prerelease event is NEXT WEEKEND! Kicking off at midnight on Friday the 20th, we've got five events for you to attend, and now, some even better news. If you preorder a booster box and attend the prerelease, you can take that box home a week early! Not forgetting the Buy-A-Box card, Firesong and Sunspeaker, which isn't available anywhere else. What are you waiting for?

And now for a change of scenery. Sit back and imagine...

The salt tang of the sea is on the air. The sound of crashing waves and whalesong drifts toward you on the breeze as the sun shines down from a pure blue sky. You feel the overwhelming urge to sit on the sand and eat ice cream. But this isn't a beach holiday, you're far from the ocean, and a sense of impending doom comes slowly over you. Horrifyingly, you feel your soul melting away, slipping through your fingers like the scoop of raspberry ripple that was so delicious a moment ago, and you realise, too late, that you should have been building sandcastles...

Players, the Idoneth Deepkin are here, and we're in love.

We've seen a lot of different kinds of Elves (or Aelves, if you like, but never Elfs) over the years, but nothing like this. The Deepkin come from the darkest abysses of the ocean to steal the souls of mortals, and a magical projection of that dark realm sweeps before them, allowing them to ride all kinds of mighty sea creatures to war!

Their playstyle mimics the tide, with a suite of abilities allowing them to surge forward like a breaking wave and recede just as fast, drawing the enemy after them before rushing forward to engulf them again.

The Deepkin also have some of the most exciting miniatures we've ever seen. Even their basic foot troops, the Namarti Thralls, are beautiful and brutal-looking models, while the Eidolon of Mathlann is nothing short of a masterpiece of miniature design, and reportedly an absolute nightmare to fight against!

Your Idoneth Deepkin are available to preorder right now - be the first to get these mysterious and deadly new Aelves onto the tabletop, and send your enemies to a watery grave. Or just the belly of a massive eel. Up to you.

Keep your eyes peeled for more Dominaria news and more Deepkin releases over the next couple of weeks!
